Understanding Review Sites
Lawyers have always been in a class of their own. They speak a different language, they hold to the rule of law, and they have always gotten their clients by word of mouth reputation. Times are changing, though, in this new internet age.
There are a multitude of review sites on the internet where potential clients can check an attorney and their reputation out on. There are the generic sites like Angie’s List, Google, Yelp, Bing, Yahoo, etc. There are also sites that give potential clients reviews to lawyers like Martindale, AVVO, and Lawyers.com, among many. Two sites; Superlawyers and Best Lawyers is a site that can only be claimed by the recommendation of other attorneys. These sites are all over the internet and what people say about you on these sites will determine the level of business that you obtain.
Studies have shown that 72% of the people trust online reviews as much as they trust the recommendations of their friends and family. I would contend that it’s even more, as people that receive a recommendation from those friends and family members will most likely go to the internet and research your reputation after receiving that recommendation. This means that word of mouth is no longer good enough to grow your client base. The internet and the sites that post reviews about you can either make or break your business.
This is a time when your online reputation is of the utmost importance. The good news is that there is help out there to increase your client base. For more information, go to LawMAXtraining.com and see how to grow your business.
